A small guide for a difficult morning or afternoon

No lecture. No perfect morning routine. Just a place to begin.

Check what is happening

Check what your body needs

Have you had water?

Have you eaten?

Do you need the bathroom?

Do you have medication that must be taken as prescribed?

Is there a health concern that needs attention?

Start with the most pressing need.

Choose one connection with the day

  • Sit up for a few minutes.
  • Open the curtain or step into a safe, comfortable space.
  • Drink some water.
  • Eat something simple.
  • Send one necessary message.
  • Ask somebody to help with an urgent task.

If somebody is pressuring you

You can say:

"I'm having a rough time. I know things need to get done, but I'm struggling. I could use some help deciding what to deal with first."

If you are supporting somebody

Try asking:

"Is there anything urgent you need help with today?"

You do not need to begin with a speech about laziness.

Important: Significant changes in sleep, persistent exhaustion or worsening depression deserve healthcare attention.
