START WHERE YOU ARE

Mi Feel Alone

Loneliness, isolation and needing connection.

You can feel alone in an empty room. You can also feel alone in a full house where nobody knows what is happening inside you.

Loneliness is not proof that nobody cares. Sometimes it tells us that the connection we need is not reaching us right now.

Sometimes this may look like

  • Wanting company but not having the energy to explain yourself
  • Scrolling through other people’s lives and feeling further away
  • Assuming you would be a burden if you reached out
  • Being surrounded by people while feeling unseen

Small next steps

  1. Choose the safest person, not necessarily the closest person.
  2. Ask for a small form of connection, such as a call, meal or quiet company.
  3. Go where gentle human presence is possible, even if you do not feel ready to talk.
  4. Pause social media if it is making the distance feel worse.

THE NEXT TEN MINUTES

One thing yuh can do now.

Send a low-pressure message: “Yuh free fi sit with me on the phone for ten minutes? I do not need a big conversation. Mi just do not want to be by myself with my head right now.”

WHEN MORE SUPPORT MAY HELP

You do not have to wait for breaking point.

If loneliness is becoming persistent, keeping you isolated or making life feel unsafe, tell somebody clearly. A trusted person, community support, counsellor or healthcare professional can help you find a next step.Find a support pathway
