START WHERE YOU ARE

Mi Need Fi Talk

Finding support and starting a conversation.

Knowing you need to talk does not mean you already know how to begin.

You are allowed to ask for listening before advice, privacy before details and time before a perfect explanation.

Sometimes this may look like

  • Practising the conversation in your head but never starting
  • Worrying that the other person will judge, lecture or tell everybody
  • Knowing something is wrong without having a name for it
  • Wanting help but not knowing which kind

Small next steps

  1. Decide what you need from the conversation: listening, advice, company or practical help.
  2. Choose a person who has shown they can handle serious things with care.
  3. Use one clear opening sentence instead of waiting for the perfect moment.
  4. If the first person is not helpful, try another safe route.

THE NEXT TEN MINUTES

One thing yuh can do now.

Copy or adapt this sentence: “Can I talk to you about something? Mi not really okay, and I need you to listen before we decide what to do next.” Then send it to one safe person.

WHEN MORE SUPPORT MAY HELP

You do not have to wait for breaking point.

If talking with family or friends does not feel safe or enough, professional, medical, school, workplace, faith or community support may be appropriate. Immediate danger needs emergency help, not a website conversation.Find a support pathway
