People mean it as praise.

“Him strong.”

He handles things.

Does not panic.

Finds the money.

Shows up.

Keeps going.

But sometimes strong becomes a description that prevents anybody from asking another question.

Who checks whether he is tired?

Who knows what frightens him?

Where does he put disappointment?

Strength should describe capacity.

It should not become a life sentence.
